Deputy First Class Allen started with the Rutland County Sheriff's Department in November 2002. In 2007, Deputy 1/C Allen attended the 84th Basic Academy for Police Professionals.

Deputy 1/C Allen is currently assigned to the West Rutland patrol contract and works nights. Deputy 1/C Allen holds a bachelors degree in psychology. Deputy 1/C Allen also serves as a training assistant (TA) at the Vermont Police Academy for the full-time basic academy classes.
