Lieutenant Hanson began his career in law enforcement with the Brandon Police Department. While there, he held every position up to and including Chief. While working for Brandon Police, Lieutenant Hanson was assigned to the Vermont Drug Task Force in the 1990's.

Lieutenant Hanson served as interim Chief of the Castleton Police Department for a short time as well. He has attended the FBI National Academy.

Lieutenant Hanson was hired by the RCSD in 2002 and re-assigned to the Vermont Drug Task Force as a Detective Sergeant. In 2007, Lieutenant Hanson left the task force and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at the RCSD. He now supervises the RCSD patrol and court operations.

Lieutenant Hanson's vast experience in law enforcement is an asset to our department.
