Description: On 7/24/2010 at 2021 hours Rutland County Sheriff's Deputies were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash on Pleasant Street in West Rutland. Preliminary investigation revealed that Operator #1 (Johnson) was operating his vehicle north on Pleasant Street above the posted speed limit, without headlights on after dark. Operator #2 (Hughes) was entering Pleasant Street from Pleasant Heights. Operator #1 (Johnson) struck the side of Operator #2's (Hughes) vehicle as she pulled into Pleasant Street. Operator #1 (Johnson) was found to be at fault for the crash and also found to be operating under the influence of alcohol. He was screened for DUI and transported to the RCDS for DUI processing where he provided a breath sample well over the legal limit of .08 %. He was cited to Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division for DUI and Negligent Operation. He was also issued several traffic tickets. Neither operator received injuries during this crash.
