Charges: Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Description: On the above date at approximately 2251 hours, Cpl. Wilbur attempted to stop a 1993 Ford Tempo on RT7B in North Clarendon for a speeding violation. The vehicle failed to yield and traveled onto Gorge Road, then Airport Rd, crossed RT103, then traveled north on East Clarendon Road without yielding to the blue lights and siren while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Other Deputies and the State Police responded to assist. The operator of the vehicle stopped the car on East Clarendon Rd and fled on foot. Rutland City Police assisted with a K9 track of the suspect for several miles, however the suspect was not located that night.

On 8/20/10, the operator was located at his residence in Chittenden and cited to appear at Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division.

Description: On 8/12/2010 the Rutland County Sheriff's Office began an investigation into the theft of approximately $5,000 of copper electrical wire (total of approximately 250 feet) from the SLC Stone Quarry on RT7 in South Wallingford. The suspect(s) appear to have removed the wire by hand and carried or dragged the wire to RT7 where it was transported away by vehicle. The Rutland County Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information on this incident to contact Deputy James Bennick at 802-775-8002. At this time, there are no suspects.

Location: North Shrewsbury Rd, Clarendon

Victim: Phillip E. Raiche
Age: 61
City & State of Residence: Danby, VT
Description: On the above date and time, deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle incident at the above location. Preliminary investigation revealed that the male victim (Raiche) had pulled his truck from North Shrewsbury Rd onto an uphill gravel private drive and exited the truck. The truck began rolling backwards towards North Shrewsbury Rd and the victim (Raiche) was dragged by the truck. The truck entered and exited a ditch at the edge of North Shrewsbury Rd where the victim (Raiche) was run over by the unoccupied truck. The victim (Raiche) remained on the ground and the truck continued backwards until it came into contact with a post at the road edge.
The victim (Raiche) was transported to RRMC by Regional Ambulance and later flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center via DHART. The vehicle was a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup. At this time, Raiche’s condition is not known.

Charges: Cultivation of Marijuana (25 Plants or more –Felony) Title 18 VSA 4230.

Description: On 8/27/2010, Deputies from the Rutland County Sheriff's Dept, with assistance from State Game Wardens, State Police and National Forrest Service Law Enforcement personnel executed a search warrant at 613 Wallingford Pond Road in Wallingford, VT. As a result of this investigation a total of 54 marijuana plants were seized by the sheriff’s department. While executing the warrant, a female subject was located on the property with an active arrest warrant. She was taken into custody by Sgt. George Scribner (F&G Warden) and transported to Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility. The case is still under active investigation to determine who was cultivating the plants. Anyone with information is asked to contact Deputy James Bennick at 802-775-8002.

Description: on the above date, Deputy Ryan Brady stopped the accused for several traffic violations. The accused was found to be operating with a suspended license. He was arrested and processed for the offense. He was released on a citation to appear at Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division at a later date.
