Rutland Unit for Special Investigations (RUSI)

The Rutland Unit for Special Investigation was started in 2009 after the State provided money for investigatiors. The unit investigates and prosecutes child abusers and child sex offenders. Click here for more information


DUI Detection

The Sheriff has established a Zero Tolerance policy regarding operator's driving under the influence. Our Deputies have been trained to detect impaired operators with the intent of improving traffic safety.


1-866-ITS-FAKE

The WE CHECK ID program was instituted as a free program to allow distributors of alcohol to be able to verify the validity of a purchaser's license. The program has prevented hundreds of youth with fake ID's from purchasing alcohol and has proven a great success. Click here for more information


START

The Stop Teen Alcohol Risk Team's are statewide teams that work to prevent underage alcohol consumption. Our team is made up of several agencies in Windham County to give a thourough response to alcohol consumption by minors. Click here for more information


Governor's Highway Safety Program

Along with other area agencies, we work in conjunction with the Governor's Highway Safety Program to improve traffic safety. The GHSP supplies money for officers with well-known campaigns such as Click It or Ticket, DUI Task Force, Aggressive Driving and other various activities.


School Resource Officers

A program that allows a law enforcement officer to work in and with a school. The SRO Program allows students to connect with our agency on a level that is more difficult to obtain elsewhere. Click here for more information


Camp Leadership Challenge

The Drug Demand Reduction camp is a program in cooperation with the Vermont National Guard and our Department allowing youth an opportunity to learn the skills of leadership and team work. Click here for more information
