RUTLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT
INVESTIGATING DEPUTY: Sgt. Andrew Cross
NEWS RELEASE:
On 02/10/2015, at approximately 6:45pm, deputies from the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department and surrounding law enforcement agencies responded to the Cash Market on Main Street in West Rutland for a reported armed robbery. Officers of multiple local agencies arrived on scene within several minutes of the call and a canine unit was used in an attempt to track and locate the subject involved. The suspect entered the store brandishing a knife and demanded money. The suspect then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. The clerk on duty followed the suspect out of the store, heading east towards the Napa Auto Parts building.
A police canine team conducted a search of the area and it is believed that the suspect may have entered a vehicle near the Rite Aid Pharmacy and left the scene.
The suspect was in the store for less than a minute before fleeing. No one was injured in the incident.
The suspect is described as a middle aged, white male, approximately 5 1/2 to 6 feet tall, heavy build, wearing a brown or grey plaid, snowboard type hooded jacket, and a ski mask.
The following are picture of a person of interest who may have information related to this case and of the weapon used. If anyone recognizes either the male subject or the knife, please call the Rutland County Sheriff’s Department at 802-775-8002.
